BETHLEHEM - Myles McAdoo, 9, was called to heaven on July 24th 2012 at 2:33am. He passed at his Delmar home surrounded by his family. Miles died as he lived, courageously and on his own terms.
Myles spent his life battling pediatric brain cancer. He was diagnosed at two with Medulloblastoma which he fought and won. At that time he attended and was supported by The Spotted Zebra Learning Center. In January, he was diagnosed with a Pontine Glioma of the brain stem that he was forced to succumb to. Myles completed 4th grade at Hamagrael Elementary School where he was a beloved student. His infectious smile illuminated the school every day. Myles loved his school family. He was a member of the Bethlehem Bay Rays Competitive Swim Team. Myles had been a student of Drama Kids International. He was a part of The Circle of Champs and Starlight Starbright. Myles was also an honorary member of the Delmar Fire Department. He has spent his last 5 years giving back to the Melodies Center through his philanthropic work and support of the Melodies of Christmas. He loved people, art, music, cupcakes and puppies, but most of all he loved his twin brother, Marcelle and his big brother Decovan.
Myles is survived by his mother, Laurel McAdoo; his brothers Decovan Simmons(Queens) and Marcelle McAdoo. He is also survived by his Next Best Thing family, Natoyia Drakes, Akeem Mauzon, Scott Fisher, Gina Fisher, Hayden and Quinn Fisher, as well as a host of grandpeeps, aunties and uncles, and cousins.
A special thanks to our medical family at Albany Medical Center including Drs. Kanwar and Porter as well as our Shaker Pediatric Family who have walked this journey with us every step of the way.
