Albany- N. Edward Biondo, 97, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on October 25, 2018. Born on April 6, 1921 in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Candido) Biondo. Ed served his country honorably and faithfully during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He worked for Esso Corporation in Glenmont for many years, until his retirement. Ed was married to Verna (Minnie) Biondo for 57 years.
Ed is survived by his children: Brad (Deborah) Biondo and Pam Travers; his grandchildren: Kristi (Adrian) Magowan, Courtney (Andrew) Elder, Gregory, Stephen (Diogo), Paul and Hallisey Travers; his brother, Jasper "Do Do" Biondo; his great-grandchildren: Olive, Samuel and Arthur. Ed is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents and his loving wife, Ed was predeceased by his granddaughter, Laura Travers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 pm on Tuesday, October 30 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110 . A period of visitation will precede the mass from 11 am to 12 pm. Burial with military honors will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed's name to a charity of one's choice.
