The world has suffered many deep and profound losses. We may add to that list, Nancy Gregory, 72, who died peacefully Thursday morning, September 30, 2010.
A lifelong resident of the Albany area, Nancy was born on March 26, 1938. She was one of five sisters and five brothers, and this large and loving family soon found a special place in their hearts for Nancy.
There are those of this big-hearted family who have already passed, and Nancy is now reunited with mom, dad, Katherine, Susie, Jimmy, Tommy, Jack and David.
For most of her adult life Nancy worked for the State of New York in the Budget Division. Through the decades she delivered mail to colleagues and co-workers, .. her friends. Rarely missing a day, rarely late, she was a cheerful and constant presence and she did her job well. She loved her work and those she worked with, and many times and in many kind ways this love was returned. She will be missed.
Outside of family, friends and work, Nancy's passions were knitting and candy. The number of babies, children and adult which have been comforted by her afghans is equaled only by the number of chocolates she enjoyed.
Finally, it should be duly noted that Nancy was devoted to her American Bulldog, Max, who is saddened by her absence.
This woman with a fine sense of humor and extraordinary resilience made a good and decent life for herself, signified in part by these loving survivors; her brother; Daniel Gregory, and her sisters; Patricia Kane and Joan Brunet. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Monday at 7pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
