NISKAYUNA – Nancy S. Hance, 79, with her family by her side, left our presence on Monday October 22, 2012.
Nancy had many talents including creating works of art with needle and thread, being the architect of a yard and rock garden worthy of a magazine cover, and being a homemaker extraordinaire. Her interests included those wonderful evening canoe rides with us at Sacandaga Lake and walking with her son even in rain, snow and thunder.
Nancy will be far more lovingly remembered though, as a truly special wife and mom. Nancy possessed a genuinely self-sacrificing love for her us, always putting her interest behind ours. That love endured toward her husband for 56 years and toward her son for all his life. It will never be forgotten, nor will the over 50 years of memories she created for us. It is because she made our lives so much better that she will be so dearly, dearly missed.
In addition to her husband Albert, Nancy is survived by her son Mark Hance of Niskayuna; her sister, Pat Carpentier and her brother, Thomas Cusack both of Colonie; and cousins, Beverly and Judy.
Our family would like to thank Kim and her staff at the ALS Center at St. Peters Hospital for all of their care. We would also like to thank all those at the Schenectady and Albany Hospice for their extraordinary care and compassion. Special thanks to Joyce Baker, nurse Nina Lake and to Dr. Roberta Miller. Keeping Mom here at home with us would not have been possible without all of your help.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 12 to 2 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will be at Memory Gardens in Colonie.
Contributions may be made in memory of Nancy to The Community Hospice of Albany and Schenectady or the ALS Center at St. Peter's Hospital.
