Nancy Lee Smith

Albany- Nancy Lee Smith (Hood), 72, passed away peacefully Friday, December 25, 2020. Nancy was the daughter of the late Russell and Dorothy Hood.

Nancy was a proud member of the Colonie Seniors, The Red Hats, Singles Outreach Services, the Zaloga Post, and the Transplant Support Group at Albany Medical Center.

Nancy enjoyed going to Museums to learn about history. She was an avid New York Yankees Fan and enjoyed going to the games with her son Alan. Nancy was a huge Jimmy Buffet fan and loved spending her time at the beach whenever she was able.

Nancy is survived by her son, Alan M. Benard; sister, Lorrie (John) Vellano; nieces, Susan (Sam) Vellano-Catalano and Amber (Mike) Liegeot; nephews, John (Nellie) Vellano, Robert (Merry) Groat and James (Jennifer) Vellano; half sister, Karen (Ed) Cazasta; several great nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, the late Fuzzy.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Monday January 4, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow the services at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
