COLONIE – Nedwin Emerson of Colonie, passed away on Thursday, November 02, 2006 at Evergreen Commons. He was born in Yonkers, NY and raised in the Bronx. During the Korean War, Mr. Emerson served in the Third Army 111th Counter Intelligence Corps. Ned worked for Barlow/Johnson Advertising and Public Relations Firm in Syracuse, and among his clients for several years was the New York State Fair. In the late 1960's Mr. Emerson moved to Albany to head up the firm's Albany office. When the business was sold, Ned became Vice President of Advertising & Public Relations at Troy Savings Bank. He was the bank's representative for the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Mr. Emerson was extremely active in the community. He organized and ran the Citizen Laureate Dinner at the University of Albany for a decade. Ned was a fourteen year board member and three year president of the United Way of Northeastern New York. He was a board member and president of the Visiting Nurse Foundation of Albany. Ned was also a fifteen year board member of the Arthritis Foundation of Northeastern New York. Mr. Emerson was a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the winner of numerous awards and accolades for his work in the field. Ned was an avid sports fan of both the baseball and football Giants. Ned is survived by his wife, Marjorie Ann Emerson. He is the father of Scott B. (Elizabeth) Emerson of Latham, Stephen W. (Cathy) Emerson of Warrensburg and Susan Milstrey (Glenn) Wells of Waterford. He was the proud grandfather of Richard, Eric and Carter of Latham, Raymond of Clifton Park and Sabrina, David, Aaron and Laura of Warrensburg.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. The family requests that instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of Nedwin Emerson. Expressions of sympathy may be made to newcomerfamily.com
