Neil E. O'Brien, Jr.

LAKE LUZERNE-Neil E. O'Brien, Jr., 80, passed away on January 1, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Neil was born in Albany in 1937. He graduated from Philip Schuyler Senior High School in 1955. After graduation he entered the U.S. Navy. After completing bootcamp and IC training school he served aboard the USS Vulcan AR5 and the USS Pawcatuck AO108 as a communications electrician. His civilian trade consisted of 30 years as a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors working for major elevator companies during his career.
His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Traute G. O'Brien; children, Neil O'Brien (Leea Keech) and Stefanie South (Sean); grandchildren, Riley South and Neil O'Brien and sister, Judith Allen and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., (Rt. 155) Albany, NY 12205. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery next to his son, Steven M. O'Brien, at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.
