Nellie A. Carter

Nellie A. Carter, 88, of Knox and formerly of Weed Rd. Latham, NY died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family and special friends on Monday, September 16, 2013. She was born in the Stockade Section of Schenectady, NY the daughter of the late Leo A. Miller and Theresa Rose Miller. Nellie first studied at Schenectady Vocational School for Culinary Arts and loved to be cooking in her kitchen for everyone she knew. She was also a trained Cosmetologist and continued throughout her life to use these talents as a volunteer working with the elderly.
Nellie is survived by her daughters Donna Dae Gilchrist (William) and Marilyn Rose Zocco (William), a sister Marilyn Jane Toolan (John) and her grandchildren Kirk, Kristine, Kregg Grippo and A. J. Famiano. She is also survived by her step daughters Connie Spencer (Brad) and Patricia Galardy (Dennis) and step grandchildren Scott Spencer and Jason Galardy and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husbands Dominic D. Colucci and Thomas Carter and by her brother Leo Miller (Elizabeth).
In keeping with Nellie's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced.
