Albany- Nettie L. Coates, 93, resided at Avila, an independent retirement facility in Albany, NY, and more recently at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center in Delmar, NY, until her death on Friday, March 16, 2012.
Nettie Coates (Ackerson) was born in Bethlehem, PA September 14, 1918. She moved to Newton, NJ. Nettie married Judson K. Coates in 1936. They resided in Newton until her retirement from the Sussex County state child welfare offices. Nettie returned to live in Bethlehem, PA before moving to Avila in 2004.
Nettie is survived by her husband of seventy-five years, Judson. A son Thomas, of Voorheesville, and his wife, Karen; a daughter Marilyn Clayton of Nipomo, CA, and her husband, Michael; four grandchildren Mary (Robert), James (Claudia), Paulina (Kenneth), and Colleen (Ricardo); one great-granddaughter Alexis, and two step great-grandchildren Adrian and Kira.
Her burial will be at Tranquility Cemetery in NJ with a memorial service for family and friends at Avila during mid-April. Contributions may be made to Chaplain Services at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center, 125 Rockefeller Road, Delmar, NY 12054.
