SELKIRK – Nicholas J. Behuniak, 72, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Albany Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Nicholas was born on March 26, 1939 in Cohoes and was the son of the late Nicholas Behuniak and Helen T. (Mach) Prusik and stepson of the late Edward J. Prusik. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1960, serving overseas in the 7th Army Transportation Corp in Stuttgart, Germany. He worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass in Delmar for 28 years before retiring in 2004; prior to that he worked for Bankers Trust and Schaffer Brewing Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening.
Nicholas is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Clara M. Behuniak; his devoted daughter, Monica (Steve) Whiteash of Selkirk and several cousins. He was predeceased by an infant son, Todd Michael Behuniak.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. There will be no funeral service. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Selkirk at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in memory of Nicholas J. Behuniak.
