Glenville-Nicholas J. Youmans, a lifelong resident of the Capital Region who most recently lived in Glenville, passed away after a sudden illness on Sept. 14, 2021. He was 52 years old.
Nick worked as a software engineer in the East Greenbush office of Datto Inc., formerly known as Autotask Inc. He was a 1986 graduate of Albany High School and attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He loved the New York Giants, Marvel movies, Dungeons and Dragons, and video games. From childhood, he was fascinated by all things air and space and frequently visited the Empire State Aero sciences Museum, located near his apartment. Growing up, he played Pop Warner football and baseball with the West End Little League, both of Albany. He was involved in Cub Scouts, Civil Air Patrol and Junior Achievement. One of his favorite places to visit was Thatcher Park.
Nick was known for his quick humor, infectious smile and hearty laugh. Uncomfortable with attention, he was a big-hearted and generous person who loved to help others but shied away from taking any credit.
Nick will be missed by his sister, Cece Youmans, of Stillwater, N.Y.; his brother, Chris Youmans, and wife, Sharie, of Ocala, FL; his sister, Sue McHugh, and husband, Eric, of Abington, MA; his sister, Amanda Youmans, and partner, Matthew Murray, of Albany, NY; his nieces Madeline, Amelia, Emilie and Alyssa; and his extended family of cousins.
We'll miss you, you big teddy bear.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
