Westerlo- Nicoline D. Miller (Basco), of Westerlo, passed away peacefully at the age of 86, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be remembered by all who knew her. Nicoline's journey came to a gentle close, surrounded by the love of her family, on February 23, 2024.

They were together for 69 years before his passing. Nicoline was also predeceased by her siblings; Andrea "Anne" Byerwalters, Joseph Basco, Marcelino "Butch" Basco, and Margaret Rose Basco. She is survived by her brother, John "Jack" Basco (Bonnie), whose bond remained strong throughout their lives. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of descendants, including her two sons, Herbert "Jake" Miller, Jr. (Karen), Robert Miller, Sr. (Nicole), her grandchildren; David Whitman, Jr. (Laurie Ann), Laura Osgood (Steve), Jim Hurley (Jennifer), Kristy Winters (Phil), Robert Miller, Jr. ("Roni"), Erika Bates (Kyle), Scott Miller (Sarah), Travis Miller, seven adored great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Throughout her long and fulfilling career at Daughters of Sarah, Nicoline epitomized compassion and dedication. Caring for patients with a genuine love that radiated from her soul, she touched countless lives with her kindness and empathy.
Beyond her professional life, Nicoline was the heart and soul of her family. As the matriarch, she nurtured and supported each member in every endeavor, always ready with a listening ear and wise advice (whether you wanted it or not). She truly enjoyed their Holiday traditions, planning her menu 6 months in advance to ensure everyone would attend. Her love knew no bounds and her family was her greatest source of pride and joy.
In her leisure time, Nicoline found solace and joy in simple pleasures. Whether being entertained for hours in card games, up at all hours of the night solving word puzzles, or engrossed in her beloved Western Channel, she found contentment in the little things. She cherished every opportunity from visits with family members chatting over coffee, lunch outings, and spontaneous camping trips which always had to include fishing. Nicoline's presence lit up every room she entered, her warm loving hugs, joyful laughter, and unwavering kindness leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed her path. Her memory will be carried forward in the countless stories shared by those whose lives she touched, each tale a testament to her boundless love and true badassary. As we bid farewell to Nicoline Miller, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Though she may no longer walk among us, her love will continue to guide and inspire us for generations to come.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 11am-1pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A memorial service will follow starting at 1pm.
