COLONIE-Niels C. Jurgensen, 65, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, surrounded by the love of his family.
Niels was born in Albany, NY on January 21, 1953 to Carl and Laura Jurgensen. Niels served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his service, he went on to work for NYS, and in 2010, he retired from the Dept. of Tax and Finance. He was a member of the Albany Rod and Gun Club, and the Freemasons for over 10 years. Niels will be remembered for his love of his family.
Niels is predeceased by his father, Carl Jurgensen.
He is survived by his children, Laura (Jonathan) Golon, and Erik (Lisa) Jurgensen, his mother, Laura Jurgensen, his sisters, Lee Nielsen, Tina (Chris) Quenelle, and Stephanie (Cate McLaren) Jurgensen, and would have welcomed his first grandson in September.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 4:00pm-7:00pm with a prayer service to immediately follow. Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY, on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:00am.
