She started her career as a pupil teacher at Queenstown R.C. School in Georgetown, Guyana. After a couple of years, she decided to join the medical field as a nurse. She spent numerous years in different departments in Georgetown and Suddie Hospitals, advancing in positions of nurse midwife, operation room nurse, and charge nurse.

She worked at Albany Medical Center Hospital, St. Peter's Hospital, VA Albany Health, and the last 35 years with Central Nursing Services in Troy, NY.

She was the head usher from the early beginnings of the Black Catholic Apostolate on Thornton Street in Albany, NY. For several years, she worked diligently to help create a warm, welcoming environment for members and visitors.
