Norman A. Buonanno

September 15, 1926 — August 8, 2013

BALLSTON LAKE-Norman A. Buonanno, 86 of Ballston Lake, NY passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospital at the Community Hospice Inn. He has resided in Ballston Lake for the past year, moving from the Philadelphia area. Mr. Buonanno was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Ralph and Marie (Pellitta) Buonanno. He attended St. Thomas More High School, Class of 1943 and earned his Bachelor's Degree in 1952 from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Buonanno served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired in 1990 as an Auditor for the Defense Contract Audit Agency. He enjoyed Big Band and Opera music. Mr. Buonanno was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Mr. Buonanno is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joan (Stankiewicz) Buonanno of Ballston Lake; they would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on October 29, 2013. He is the loving father of Gale (Doug) Elfner of Clifton Park, Susan (David) McCartney, MD of Lubbock, TX, Mary Jo Buonanno of Port Orchard, WA and Nancy (Mike) Buonanno-Grennan, JD of Poulsbo, WA and the loving grandfather of Matthew (Desiree) Elfner of Wilson, NC, Lauren Elfner of Annapolis, MD, Sarah (Willie) Deutsch of Woodbridge, VA and Andrew McCartney, Rachael McCartney, Daniel McCartney, David McCartney all of Lubbock, TX and Patrick and Gillian Grennan of Poulsbo, WA.
He also leaves behind his sisters, Marie Ferrante of Ormand Beach, FL, Jean Robb of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Barbara Scheer of Cape May Courthouse, NJ, and multiple nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Buonanno was predeceased by his sisters Marge Squadrito and Eleanor Gallagher.
Calling hours will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd., Clifton Park, NY 12065, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2 PM at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Hospice, 1221 Race St. Philadelphia, PA 19107, in memory of Mr. Buonanno.
