Norvin Trent Whitmore
January 1, 1918 — February 15, 2012
SCHODACK – Dr. Norvin Trent Whitmore, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Harrisonburg, VA and was a 1940 graduate of Millersville State Teachers College. Dr. Whitmore spent 21 years in the Navy, 4 years active duty and 17 years in the Naval Air Reserves. He retired in 1966 as Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy. He received his Masters Degree from Cornell University in Industrial Relations and received his Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Buffalo. In 1980, he retired as Vice President Emeritus of Erie Community College, North Campus in Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Whitmore was predeceased by his wives, Eileen Wicks Whitmore and Dr. Leone Buffan.
He is beloved father of Donna J. (John P.) Rahart and Patricia W. (John R.) Tulloch. He is the cherished grandfather of Travis (Denise) Rahart, Matthew (Alissa) Tulloch and Scott (Jackie) Tulloch. He is the great grandfather of Kyle Ray and Hoyt Rahart, Colin Miller and Drew Tulloch.
Funeral services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
