September 13, 1954 — May 16, 2024

Octavio "Tibbs" Santiago, 69, passed away on May 16, 2024.

He was born on September 13, 1954, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to the late Zacarias Santiago and Doris Rodriguez. The family relocated to Brooklyn, NY, when he was an infant.

His commitment to justice, integrity, and community made a lasting impact on those he served. When not on duty, Tibbs enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, camping, being outdoors, listening to music, and completing home improvement projects.

Tibbs is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Santiago; son, Octavio Santiago, Jr. (Helen); daughter, Raquel Santiago-Parker (Steven); grandchildren, Nicholas, Juliana, and Mila Parker; Avalina and Madeleine Lozada-Santiago; sisters, Iris Williams (Wilbert), Aura Orso (James); brother, Jesus Santiago (Dali), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 1PM to 4PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A celebration of life to immediately follow at 4PM.
