SCHENECTADY – Ogeechee E. Nelson, 72, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness.
Ogeechee was born on January 11, 1942 in Charlotte, NC and was the daughter of the late Odell Martin and Mary Helen (Clark) Oliver. She worked as a machine operator for Coyne Laundry in Schenectady for many years before retiring.
Ogeechee is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann (Clifford) Lawrence of Schenectady; her sisters, Parx Samella Williams and Mary Ann Guy both of Schenectady and Sarah Marie (Neal) Stanley of Pittsfield, MA and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved life partner, Bennie Nelson Jr. and her sisters, Selema May Buchanan, Nancy Jean Guy and Izella Jane Guy.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m.
