TROY – Olga G. Cannon, 88, of Troy, died Wednesday evening December 18, 2013 at Samaritan Hospital. She was born July 31, 1925 in East Chicago, Indiana and was the daughter of the late Michael and Tekla Kaszczyszyn.
Olga was predeceased by her husband John H. Cannon and her four sisters. She is the Mother of Kathleen Hayes, Christine Cannon and Maureen (Michael) Swertinski. She is the grandmother of Susan and Colleen Hayes and Laura Swertinski. She is also survived by several brother and sisters-in-law.
After raising her daughters, she went to work at Montgomery Ward and later as a court attendant at the Rensselaer County Court House. Olga always had a treat or piece of candy to share with others. An avid dancer, she was a ballroom dancing instructor at Arthur Murray . Olga could jitterbug with the best of them and was never without a willing partner. She was a talented seamstress, tailor, painter and a fashionable dresser from head to toe. She loved to travel and shared many worldwide adventures with the Watervliet Seniors. She fondly remembers her friends and neighbors at ROUSE Senior Living.
Olga was a generous, caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday morning at 9:30 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Rd., Troy. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 in memory of Olga G. Cannon.
