Oliver R. Robinson

GUILDERLAND – Oliver Ray "Rope" Robinson, suddenly departed this life on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY. Born in Victoria, VA he was the son of the late Asbury and Anna Robinson. Oliver's passion was in human services working as an alcohol and substance abuse counselor. He worked for SPARC (St. Peter's Addiction Recovery Center), retiring in 2007. Oliver impacted many lives as a sponsor, counselor and a friend to those in need. He dedicated his life to saving young men and women from addiction and helping them become productive and viable adults.

Oliver is the beloved husband of twenty-three years to Robyn L. Montgomery. He is the devoted father of Brittany M. Robinson, Fatima Howard, Jovan C. Montgomery and Jamella C. Montgomery. Oliver is the cherished grandfather of Malachi C. Montgomery. He is the brother of Robert and Cephus Robinson, Jackie Clarke, Juanita Robertson, Dorothy Robinson and Agnes Marie Grudzien. Oliver is the brother-in-law of Lillian Robinson, Dotty Robinson, Sheila Montgomery Ross, Veronica Montgomery-Miller, Jerome Grudzien, Kevin Montgomery, Darryl Montgomery, Thomas Robertson, Alonzo Ross, Elmon Miller and Robert Wilson. Also surviving is host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Oliver was a warm, sensitive and carting man who loved his family dearly. He will always be remembered as saying, "Be good to yourself and keep it simple."

Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
