Oren "Lenny" Thompson, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday November 24, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Oren was born in Roseboom, NY a son of the late Oren J. and Edna Thompson. He was a graduate of Cherry Valley High School and moved to the Schenectady area as a young man. Oren proudly served in the US Army Air Corps at the end of WW II. He worked for Railway Express of Schenectady, Ensign Bickford of Conn. and General Electric where he retired from after 22 years of service. Oren enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting and just spending time outdoors. He loved flying and owned his own airplanes but, his greatest love was his beloved wife of 59 years, Ruth (Teller) Thompson and their children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Ruth, he is survived by their children Mrs. Lynda (Inman) Dreels (Joseph) and Terry Ross and granddaughters Ashley Ross and Melyssa Inman. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his older brothers Kenneth and Herman Thompson.
A graveside service will be held Monday 12:30 pm at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. There will be no calling hours.
