LOUDONVILLE- Osilde Volpe passed away peacefully on January 5, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Introdacqua, Italy to the late Francesco and Maria Tangredi, she immigrated to the United States in 1947, initially to Brooklyn, and then to Peekskill, NY where she resided for over 60 years.
Osilde will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She spent her working years as a seamstress. She had a tremendous love for cooking, enjoyed word puzzles, was an avid gardener, and loved to shop, pray, sing, and be outdoors. She was a long-time parishioner of Assumption Church in Peekskill. Mostly, Osilde was devoted to her loving family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Osilde is survived by her daughters, Dr. Maria Volpe of Peekskill and Phyllis Volpe (James McDermott) of Loudonville, grandchildren Maria and Gian Volpe-McDermott, brother Edino Tangredi (Lina) of Italy, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Mariano, siblings Teresa Susi, Maria, Giovanna and Pasquale Tangredi.
Funeral services will be held on Monday January 9, 2012, with viewing from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, followed by Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor, NY.
