Schenectady- Otto G. Brunner of Buckingham Drive died on April 22, 2016, at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home as a result of heart complications.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 5, 1931, Mr. Brunner moved to East Northport, NY at the age of 8 and graduated from Northport HS in 1949. He earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Electrical Technology from Long Island Agricultural and Technical Institute at Farmingdale, NY in 1951, attended Union College Evening Div. '51-'53 and graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, Illinois in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957 as an Aviation Electricians in an Airborne Early Warning Squadron at the Patuxent River Naval Station, In MD and was honorably discharged.
Mr. Brunner worked for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady in several engineering and, management positions. He participated in numerous Drive System, Nuclear, and Control Systems projects including Installation and Service Engineering, retiring in 1987 after more than 34 years of service. He was a member of the Elfun Society, GE Quarter Century Club, and GE Retired Employees Association.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marygene Brunner, his three sons; Robert (Heather) Brunner of Portland, OR, Ralph (Wan) Brunner, of Bangkok, Thailand, and John (Lisa) Brunner, of Albany, NY, and three grandchildren; Allison Elizabeth and John Robert, of Albany, and Danny Nathan of Bangkok, Thailand.
