Owen B. Snyder, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Owen was born in Johnsonburg, PA to the late John and Anna Snyder. He served for the United States Army during WWII. After the service Owen own and operated Pete and Owens Restaurant, he then worked for Jamestown Metal where he retired in 1989, and then continued to work for Grand Union and Hannaford until his illness would force him to retire at the age of 87. In addition to his parents Owen was predeceased by three brothers, two sisters and his daughter, Brenda (Snyder) DeAngelo.
Owen is survived by, his loving and devoted wife of over 62 years, Marian (Olsen) Snyder; his beloved daughter, Sandra (Ben) Zodikoff; his brother, Richard; his grandchildren, Marsha (Alex), Susan (Kevin), Michael (Jennifer), Mark (Renae), Jon (Denise); his great-grandchildren, Lynne, Josh (Jen), Jackie (Jon), Melissa, Lydia, Isabella, Jon-Michael, Siena, Laurryn, Olivia, Luke and his great-great-granddaughter, Alivia.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, 2 Mercy Care Lane, Guilderland. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance on behalf of Owen's grandchildren, Lynne and Josh Mihalak at FARA 102 Pickering Way, Suite 200, Exton, PA 19341 www.curefa.org.
