Pamela Mae Hamilton, 70, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.Pamela was the daughter of Doris "Dodie" Hamilton and the late Richard Hamilton. She grew up in Poughquag, NY on Emmadine Farm, where she learned to love animals, horse-back riding, and the great outdoors. She participated in the Dutchess County 4H Club throughout her youth, and she won New York Junior Reserve Champion Showman in 1971. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1972.
Pamela attended the State University of New York Agricultural and Technical College at Morrisville, and graduated with an associate degree in natural resources conservation. She then changed career paths and attended Dutchess County Community College, from which she earned an associate degree in nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the State University of New York Institue of Technology at Utica-Rome.
Pamela worked as a Registered Nurse for 42 years. She was very proud of her nursing career, beginning at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie and continuing at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. She loved her profession and cherished the many friendships she made along the way.
Pamela was the devoted wife of Mark Loucks. They were married eight years. They enjoyed traveling together, attending concerts, and spending time with their blended family.Pamela was a proud member of the Watervliet-Colonie Elks. She loved reading, gardening, camping, baking, and visiting Chincoteague Island, VA, a place she returned to throughout her life, from the 1970s to the 2020s. Most of all, she loved being a Mom.Pamela is predeceased by her father, Richard, and her sister Debra Hamilton. She is survived by her mother Doris, of Cohoes; her husband Mark, of Cohoes; her brother Richard Hamilton, of Maybrook; her daughter Caitlin Ohlson and her fiancee John Nicotina, of Colonie; her son Lucas Henry and his partner Florencia Feleder, of Albany; her step-son Brian Loucks and his fiancee Caitlyn Grenfeld, of Colonie; her step-daughter Megan and her husband Will Peason, and step-granddaughter Miya, all of Voorheesville; and many cousins, relatives, and friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Tuesday November 26, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Tuesday November 26, 2024 at 12:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals.
