After a short illness, Patricia O. Bryson (Pat), 81, of Kingsway Village Apartments in Schenectady, New York, passed away at Ellis Hospital on April 6, 2022.
Pat was born in the Bronx on September 12, 1940 to the late Anthony M. Olin and Jeanne Olin (Burdette). The eldest of three children, she was raised in the Woodlawn neighborhood of the North Bronx, where she attended St. Barnabas Elementary School and High School. After marrying Paul J. Bryson, Sr., she raised three sons in a small house on East 237th street in Woodlawn. While her children were young, she was actively involved in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at St. Barnabas Elementary School, the Boy Scouts of America (where she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother), her parish, and the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). As her children grew, she returned to the workforce, working in the Psychology Department at Mercy College and for many years as an Administrative Assistant at Frishauf, Holtz, Goodman & Woodward P.C. in New York City.
Pat was a "crazy cat lady" who saved and adopted many strays over the years. She was an avid reader and lifelong learner who enjoyed discussing a wide range of topics, including art, architecture, anthropology/ancient cultures, and theater. Finally - and perhaps most importantly - Pat was a devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen (Susan), Paul Jr. (Bridget), and Eric (Gina); her grandchildren, Stephanie (Andrew), Benjamin, Nathaniel, Delaney, and Steven (Megan); her brothers, Jon (Valerie), and William (Amy), her beloved great aunt Dorothea (Dot) McCarthy, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends in New York State and across the United States. She is predeceased by her parents and her son Robert (Robbie).
Her family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Kingsway Village Apartments and the Nursing and Medical staff at Ellis Hospital for their care and support over the past few years.
No funeral services will be held. Pat's family will gather later this year to remember Pat and celebrate her life. Pat's Facebook page will remain open, and all are welcome to post memories and final words to her
