SCHENECTADY - Patricia Candido Lamar, 53, of Schenectady, died on Friday, January 16, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Patty was born in Albany to Martha and the late Joseph Candido. In addition to her mother, Patty is survived by her husband of 14 years, Jim; her daughter, Katie, 10; her siblings, Dianne, Susan, Joe, and Paul; several nieces and nephews; her extended in-law family; and many friends.
Patty graduated from Marylrose Academy in 1973 and attended Valparaiso University. For 21 years Patty and Martha operated a Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Schenectady.
Patty's remarkable creative spirit was evident in all she did: cooking, interior design, yard and garden work, and her own approach to health and healing. She wanted visitors to the family's home to enjoy themselves, and they did. She was also a voracious and eclectic reader, one who enthusiastically shared ideas about books and current events.
Patty and Katie loved to "cuddle and buddle" together in bed watching Katie's favorite TV shows.
During her illness Patty was supported by friends and family, but especially Ruth Reilly, Jacqueline Brickman, and Sarah Owens. Dianne provided special care and love during Patty's final weeks.
Visiting hours will be on Saturday, January 24th at Newcomer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) from 12 noon to 2 p.m. A service will follow at 2 p.m.
