Patricia E. Countermine, 90, of Albany, passed away on August 14, 2023 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center.
She was born on December 22, 1932 to the late William and Clara (Wood) Sampson in Albany, NY.
Having spent her earliest childhood in Altamont, NY, Pat moved with her family to Bay Ridge (Brooklyn) and graduated from high school there in 1950. Throughout much of her adult life, Pat was known amongst family and friends as always being willing to lend a hand in any way she could. She offered countless hours of assistance in a variety of activities at each of the schools her children and grandchildren attended (where she was often affectionately referred to by all as "Grandma Pat"). Pat was also an active member of her church community at various congregations throughout her life -- most recently at Union Presbyterian Church in Schenectady, NY.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Clarence Countermine, in 2017, and by their daughter, Deborah Lane, in 2007, and by their son-in-law, Richard Lupi, earlier this year.
Patricia is survived by daughter Kathleen Lupi, granddaughters Stephanie Lane and Caitlin (Lupi) Allen, Caitlin's husband Scott Allen, and grandson Christopher Lupi, and by several great-grandchildren: Harper Scism, Owen Michael, Eugene and Anna McAuliffe; and, Liza, Hadley and Hunter Allen. Pat is also survived by her brother William Sampson and his husband Dennis Booker, sister-in-law Sandy Garling, son-in-law Curt Lane and a large extended family of many nieces, nephews and their spouses and children.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 9th, 2023 at 10am at First Reformed Church of Schenectady.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance (ccalliance.org) in memory of Pat -- a survivor of the disease.
