LOUDONVILLE – Patricia H. Gordon, 74, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Patricia was born on January 31, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of the late Charles and Virginia Harrington Herlihy. She was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School and the State University of Plattsburgh where she received her bachelor's degree. She taught in Ballston Spa, Plattsburgh City Schools, US Army Dependent's Schools in France, and South Colonie School District where she was a kindergarten teacher. She received her masters at SUNY Albany, then became a special ed teacher for BOCES at the Maywood School in Colonie. She also was a substitute teacher for the North and South Colonie Schools.
Patricia was a member of St. Pius X Church, ACICV, South Colonie Friends of Music (life member), Andersonville Survivors Group, the Jewish Catholic Dialogue Committee, Red Hat Society, Caring Together (a support group for women with ovarian cancer), and a 35 year member of her beloved Book Club. She loved genealogy, traveling and reading books. She received her Irish Citizenship as she was proud of her heritage. She was also proud of the fact that each of her grandchildren were born on a different day of the week.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 52, years, Paul O. Gordon; her children, Brian J. Gordon of Cheektowaga, Virginia R. Gordon of Colonie, and John P. Gordon of Guilderland; her grandchildren, Nicole, Shannon, Jill and Andrea, and Zachary, Alexander and Amy; her brother, Charles "Mac" Herlihy of Plattsburgh; her brothers-in-law, Warren "Pat" (Barbara) Gordon of Keesville, NY, Peter (Connie) Gordon of Loudonville and Raymond (Jane) Gordon of Keesville, NY and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Church in Loudonville. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be held at New Comer – Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155 – south of Central Ave.) on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
