Patricia Mcevoy

January 30, 1937 — July 8, 2018

Mrs. Patricia A. (Walker) McEvoy, born on January 30, 1937 in Dolgeville, NY, to Anna May and Jack Walker, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81 on Sunday, July 8, 2018 in Albany, NY. She was predeceased by her siblings Jack and Jean. Patricia is survived by her husband, John Carl; her children, Michael, Leslie and John P.; her grandchildren, Shannon and Nolan; as well as a nephew and many nieces and their children.

Patricia graduated from Dolgeville Central High School where she was a cheerleader and acrobat and also studied ballet for many years. She was employed as a bookkeeper by the Daniel Green Slipper Company in Dolgeville, and by automobile dealerships in Herkimer and Florida.

She married John C. McEvoy in 1957 in Dolgeville followed by a reception in the backyard of John's parents home in Little Falls, NY and enjoyed almost 61 years of loving marriage. John and Patricia moved to Albany in 1965 where they continued to build a wonderful life, marriage and family. Patricia was a devoted and loving wife and mother, an avid gardener, and an excellent cook. She crafted a warm and beautiful home where the kitchen was the center of family life. As a stay-at-home mom, she was home when her children returned from school, always ready with snacks, a cheerful laugh and, more importantly, a tender ear, encouraging words and unending enthusiasm.

Patricia was an inspired and talented home decorator and flower wreath designer as proprietor of L'Fleur Creative Floral Designs in Albany. She loved nature, animals and was a generous contributor to wildlife conservation. She enjoyed travel and family vacations in Maine, Cape Cod, California and the Virgin Islands. Her friends and family admired her as an honest, compassionate, generous, fun-loving, vivacious, independent individual, full of spit and vinegar, integrity, creativity and artistic flair. She will be deeply missed.

She will be interred at the Saratoga National Cemetery. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
