Patricia (Pat) Ann Sheares was born on July 31, 1954 in Harlem, USA to Gloria and Herman Sheares. She was the eldest of eight children; she was #1. As the firstborn, she dedicated a great deal of her childhood to help take care of her siblings. In January 1968, Team SHEARES moved to Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
Patricia graduated from Prospect Heights High School. Following her graduation, she worked for Stanley Pleating. An entrepreneur, Patricia established her own day care, serving her community. When her youngest child reached school age, she returned to the outside workforce and obtained employment with the NYC Board of Education and NYC Transit Authority. In 2017, Patricia retired from NYCTA's famous Jackie Gleason Depot as a station agent with the Metro Card program.
To know Pat was to love her. Pat was a very friendly, kind, loving and giving person. She enjoyed hosting crowded tables. She looked forward to having Sunday dinners, Lamb chop Mondays, and her famous Super Bowl parties. Pat loved to be on the go and would surely be there for any of her friends and family's events. Pat also enjoyed shopping. You could easily find her in one of Walmart's shopping aisles. If she wasn't shopping, she was traveling. She loved to travel; Hawaii, Mexico, St. Maarten, Martha's Vineyard and the Poconos were among her favorites. Pat lived her life like it was GOLDEN.
Above all, Patricia worked out her soul salvation at Christ Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. David L. Kelley II. Through sickness and health, Patricia kept her commitment of attending, serving and praying for it helped to draw her nearer to God. As an active member, she served on the Missionary, Hospitality and Security ministries.
Patricia was preceded in death by her grandmother, Momma Mag, her parents and her sister, Gale.
Patricia leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Dawn (Frank), Lynese (Shawn), Gregory, and her bonus daughters, Thalisha and Faatima; her siblings, Rodney, Warren (Lenora), Timothy (Deborah), Robin, Lori, Gary (Denise), and a bonus brother, Michael; the matriarch of the family, Ethel ("Momma E") Bracey; her sister-cousins, Malka, Sheila, Denise and Marlo (also a godchild); her children's father, Gregory ("Butch") Formey; her grandchildren, Trevel (Samantha), Chawn, Elijah, Jordan, and Sanders; her great-grandchildren, Chawn and Zinnia; her godchildren, Chawn, Dyondra, Kareem and Zoe, along with a host of longtime friends.
