Patricia H. Walsh

July 6, 1934 — December 22, 2023

Patricia "Patty" Helen (Fanning) Walsh entered into Eternal Life on December 22, 2023, at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Scotia, NY. She was born July 6, 1934, in Schenectady, NY, to parents John "Jack" Fanning and Ruth (Marx) Fanning. She grew up in Buffalo, NY, graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy, and attended Bryant and Stratton Business College in Buffalo. On September 4, 1954, she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Walsh, Sr., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Buffalo.

Pat dearly loved her husband, children, parents, in-laws, and extended family. Pat and Bill first lived in Buffalo, then Schenectady (Guilderland) and moved back to Buffalo in the late 1970's. Pat was a life-long Catholic. She enjoyed singing in the choir with her husband Bill Sr. at St. Rose of Lima in Buffalo and later with son Kevin, at St. Andrew's in Kenmore. She was a diehard Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan, and especially enjoyed a good round of fisticuffs on the ice. She was known for Sunday evening family dinners of ham or Swiss Steak, cheese potatoes, corn casserole, and a well-loved "Comstock" cherry pie (with a homemade crust, of course). Her favorite dinner was broiled lamb chops. When her children were young, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at the Buffalo Nut Shops and kept her home well stocked with nuts and treats. After her children were grown, she worked in her husband's insurance office, attempting to keep his books and records in order. Prior to retirement she worked for St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Kenmore, NY, and was a caregiver for an elderly friend.

In her later years, Pat returned to Schenectady and lived with her son Patrick. The last years of her life she was a resident of Baptist Health Center in Scotia, NY. She enjoyed participating in their activities and events and spent endless hours coloring. Pat was wonderfully and professionally cared for by their staff. The Walsh family will be forever grateful for the love and care Pat received during her long journey with Alzheimer's Dementia.

Pat is survived by her sons: William "Billy" Jr. (Suzanne Plante), Patrick (Brenda), Kevin (Dawn Parkhill); grandchildren: Jessica (Kevin) Bales, Frank, Andrew, and Teddy Walsh, Caitlin (Luc) Dallaire, Shannon and Shane Walsh, and Great-Grandchildren: Kieran, Casey and Milo Dallaire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four premature infant sons, daughter-in-law Joanne Kmets Walsh, infant great-grandsons Gabriel and Lucas Bales, and her beloved sister Maureen "Mo" Thuman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Saturday January 6, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Andrew's Church, 1525 Sheridan Drive, Kenmore, NY 14217 on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Acacia Park, 4215 Tonawanda Creek Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120.
