ALBANY- Patricia A. Whalen, age 91, passed away peacefully with her daughter Michele by her side, on May 2, 2024 at St. Peter's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Rutland, VT, the daughter of the late Michael and Carrie Viglucci. She was also predeceased by her husband of 58 years David P. Whalen Sr., son in law Gregory Oldehoff, sisters: Joan Carroll and Jean Medick, brother in laws Peter Carroll and Donald Medick.
Patricia was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names. After receiving her secretarial credentials, she started her family in Pittsfield, MA and then relocated to the Albany area where she resided ever since. She retired as an Administrative Assistant from the Villa Mary Immaculate Nursing Home.
She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and doting on her three grandchildren, appreciating her Italian heritage and being known as "#1." After her retirement, she traveled the United States with her husband David and especially enjoyed her yearly trips to Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Patricia is survived by her three children: Lori (the late Gregory) Oldehoff, Michele Whalen, David (Maureen) Whalen Jr.; three grandchildren: Geoffrey (Stephanie) Oldehoff, Brittany (Kenneth Jr.) Murphy and David Whalen III; three great grandchildren: Emily and Gregory Oldehoff and Kenneth Murphy III. Also survived by a host of many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Thursday May 16, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. All are invited to attend her funeral services at the funeral home on Friday May 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
