Loudonville, NY - Patrick A. Ahearn, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side. Patrick was born in Troy, NY as the youngest of 8 children on March 18, 1934 to the late Joseph and Frances Ahearn.

Patrick is survived by his beloved partner Marsha Meyers who were together the past 30 years. They enjoyed traveling, hiking, boating, and spending time with family and friends. They resided together in Loudonville, NY and Ft Myers, FL.

Early in his life, Patrick became acquainted with Marie, through their employer. They married and started a family, together they instilled their values and traditions to their children. Their relationship took them down a path which introduced lifetime experiences, global cultures, and lasting memories that have passed down to their kin.

Patrick was a longtime employee of General Electric which spanned over a 41-year career. He started in manufacturing in Schenectady, NY at the age of 18, then entering their apprentice program, while also attending night school for further education. This led to him moving into services, joining the GE field engineering team, supporting long term global projects in Japan, Spain, and India. He returned to Schenectady in 1969 supporting service, then was promoted the Service Manager in 1974 in Syracuse, NY, then District Manager in 1979 in Harrison, NY. Patrick returned to global assignments in Saudi Arabia in 1983, following by a leadership role in Puerto Rico in 1987, prior to retiring from his accomplished career in 1994.

Patrick was a self-taught avid piano player, in which he enjoyed performing on his baby grand for family and friends. With his family history and traditions, he had an appreciation for all things Irish.

Patrick was also a proud member of Pope John XXIII Catholic Church. He was also a lifetime member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, along with being a honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his loving partner, Patrick is survived by his four children Amy Zonca (Mike), Albany, NY; Margaret Hillmann, New Fairfield, CT; Patrick Ahearn Jr (Merle), Colonie, NY; Michael Ahearn (Sonya), Hartland, WI; his seven grandchildren, Michael Jr (Sarah), Christopher, Stephanie, Matthew, Kate, Natalie, and Andrew; his four great-grandchildren, Victoria, Eva, Roman, and Henry and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Patrick is predeceased by his seven siblings, Kathleen, Frances, James, Joseph Jr, Paul, John, & Leo.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189 on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110 on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 10:00am. Interment will follow immediately at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 150 Troy Schenectady Rd, Watervliet, NY 12189.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Patrick's name to the Latham Colonie Knights of Columbus, PO Box 221, Latham, NY 12210 or a charity of your choice.
