Clifton Park- Patrick M. Hawkins Sr. passed on from this world peacefully at the age of 78 on Thursday, November 4, 2021 after a short illness. Born March 17, 1943 to parents Mary E. and Martin J. Hawkins (deceased), he was raised with his sister Sondra in Albany and graduated from Albany High School in 1962.
Three years passed after graduation and Hawk started his apprenticeship with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 7 and in 1969, proudly became a Journeyman until his retirement in 1995. Serving as an officer on the Local 7 Executive Board for 6 years, Patrick was a true Union man and supported his fellow brother and sisters. His legacy lives on as three generations have gone on to become union members of Local 7 as well.
In 1967, Patrick married his wife Darlene and went on to raise three wonderful children and later have four grandchildren.
The name Pat Hawkins became synonymous with drag racing and building the fastest cars you could find on the east coast circuit. His passion of racing took him through NY, FL, DE and Canada. Pat held several records at Lebanon Valley Speedway for many years.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Darlene (Sprague) Hawkins of Clifton Park, his children, Tracey (Edward) Nadeau of Saratoga, Christie Maki of Saratoga, and Patrick Jr. (Danielle) Hawkins of Colonie. His grandchildren Joshua and Steven Shevlin, Alexandra (William) and Scott Nadeau. He is also survived by his sister Sondra Mattick of Albany, his niece, Kelly T. Quinn and nephew, Augustus H. Mattick III and their families.

A memorial service and celebration of Patrick's life will be held on Friday November 12 from 4 – 7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. The celebration of life will take place at 7pm at the funeral home.
