Colonie- Paul A. Secor, Sr., 80, died at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, on Wednesday, December 28, 2005.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Henrietta Secor. Paul was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country during WWII. He worked as a firefighter for the U.S. Federal Government at the Schenectady Army Depot and more recently at the Watervliet Arsenal, for over 30 years, retiring as Captain in 1976. Paul was a light hearted, jovial man who enjoyed teasing and playing practical jokes on his family and friends. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who would help anyone when ever he could. He enjoyed hunting, outdoor activities and his camp. Paul was a Past Chief and life member of the Fuller Road Fire Dept. where he served his community for 50 years. He was a member of the Hudson Valley Firemen's Association, the Albany County Firemen's Association, and the NYS Fire Chiefs Association. Paul is predeceased by his sister Joan Ostrander.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Mary Jane Secor of Colonie, and his five cherished children, Karen Terry of Colonie, Linda (Anthony) Romaine of Moreau, Paul A. "Skip" (Phyllis) Secor, Jr. of Colonie, Beverly Secor of Middle Grove, and Susan O'Hare of Colonie. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
Funeral services with Departmental Honors will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden.
