Paul J. Citone

Paul J. Citone, 86, of Albany NY, passed peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday, April 18, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 30, 1937, in Roccafiorita, Sicily, Italy. He was the son of the late Rosario and Giovanna Citone.

At the age of 18, Paul immigrated to America. In 1960 he started his family and embraced his love of cooking, working at several area restaurants including Lombardo's. He later opened Citone's Italian- American Restaurant where he served as the Chef and sole proprietor for over 40 years. It was beloved by the community and is fondly remembered today.

Paul enjoyed making wine, hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He was also an avid gardener. His lifelong faith was a comfort to him in difficult times. He was known for his devotion which was imparted to and shared with his children.

He is survived by his eight children, Diana Kane of Saratoga Springs NY, Rosanna (Vince) Kieru of Myrtle Beach SC, Paula Paige of Sharon Springs NY, Roberta Chambers of Colonie, Paul R. Citone of Las Vegas NV, Michael J. Citone of Niskayuna NY, Samuel J. Citone of Albany NY, Gabriella F. Citone of Schenectady NY; his seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his grandson Ryan Michael Anthony Kane.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 4:00pm - 7:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 9:00am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 2216 Rosa Rd, Schenectady, NY 12309. Entombment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery 2501 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Niskayuna, NY 12309.
