COLONIE - Paul Dietzel, 84, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Glendale Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Gwendolyn (Morash) Dietzel.
Paul was born on March 19, 1924 in Jersey Shore, PA and was the son of the late Jonathon and Dorothy (Hamburg) Dietzel. He served in the US Army during WWII, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He worked for General Electric as an assembler welder for over 30 years and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and VFW. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Long Lake area of the Adirondack Park, also a favorite was attending the October Fest, and listening to German polka music.
Paul is survived by his children, Beverly Hammond of Kirkville, NY, Roy (Barbara) Dietzel of Colonie and Ernest (Paula) Dietzel of Colonie; his grandchildren, Kenneth Hammond, Jonathan, Michael, Melissa, and Shannon Dietzel; his longtime companion of 30 years, Helen Wyld of Colonie; his sister, Doris (Milton) Enfield of Colonie; his brother, Gilbert (Nancy) Dietzel of Colonie; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
