Paul J. Engel, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, with his loving family by his side, after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Paul was the son of the late Paul J. Engel and Ruth (Parker) Engel. He was predeceased by his brother James M. and sister Ruth Engel.
He was the devoted husband of 35 years to Theresa "Teddy" Grant Engel.
Paul was a graduate of Vincentian Institute, class of 1950, and he attended Siena and RPI, receiving his Professional Land Surveyor's License in 1966.
He proudly served with the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He was a Chief Surveyor at Albany's South Mall and was involved in many new construction projects throughout the Capital District.
He enjoyed summer's at Saratoga Lake with friends and family and enjoyed golfing with friends at Pinehaven Country Club, where he was a past member.
In addition to his wife Theresa "Teddy", Paul is survived by his three sons: Edward (Ledia) of Delmar, Paul "PJ III", and James (Kathy) of Albany; two brothers: Leonard (Joan) of Clifton Park and Robert of Hampton Manor; and six grandchildren: Paul "PJ IV" (Kristen), Olivia, Gregory, Rory, Larissa and Alex.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY on Sunday September 17, 2017 from 4 to 7.
A Graveside service will be held Monday September 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzherimer's Association of NY, 4 Pine West Plaza #405, Albany, NY 12205 in Paul's memory.
