After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Paula A. Mico, 68, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2016 at home surrounded by her family.
Born on December 19, 1947 to Dr. Paul and Mary (Cummings) Mico in Dennison, OH. Paula lived in several areas around the country. She spent much of her youth living at the Navajo reservation in Tuba City, AZ. Paula always enjoyed working in the health care industry; she dedicated her life to individuals with physical and mental disabilities. She was a proud union activist in the AFSCME Local 1190 union where she served as president while she was living is Massachusetts. Paula was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and she treasured those roles.
Later in her life she and her husband Dave moved to Colonie to be close to her daughter Danielle. Most recently she was employed with the Warren-Washington County ARC based in Queensbury. Paula always looked forward to her family's annual camping trip at Hampton/ Salisbury Beach. She loved the holidays with her family, spoiling her grandchildren and experiencing life to the fullest.
Paula is survived by her father, Dr. Paul Mico, her children, Christopher Tredeau and his wife Katherine, Danielle Hall and her husband Jacob; her grandchildren, Eban Charles, Amaryllis Charles, Mandolin Tredeau, Gavin Hall and Dorje Hall; her sisters, Roxy, Francis, Mary and their spouses; her brother, Michael and his wife; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Mico and her husband, David A. DeForest.
It was Paula's wish to have a Native American Life Celebration in her honor, the service will be held on April 2, 2016 at 11am at Schodack Town Park, 498 Poyneer Road, Nassau, NY 12123.
