OBITUARY KELLY, PETER G.
ALBANY – Peter G. Kelly Jr., 71, passed away on Monday August 12, 2013. He was the son of the late Peter G. Kelly Sr. and Ruth Meyers Kelly.
Pete was a business owner and longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 106 in Albany and served as a Union Business Agent. Pete retired in 2003 to Pompano Beach Florida where he was a passionate instructor of Irish set dancing. He enjoyed New York sports, a pint of Guinness and international travel. Pete will always be remembered for his love to entertain family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian "Sha" Kelly and his sister, Christine Kelly.
Pete is the devoted father of Peter G. Kelly III, Stephen Kelly, Jackie Chin and her husband Ted, and Tom Giammatteo. He is the beloved husband of Helen Kelly. Pete is the brother of Harry Kelly. He is the stepfather of Patrick, John, Kevin and Chris Duffy and Jean Anne Tiesler. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his lifetime friend and mentor, Henry Berben.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 8:30 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to St. Clare's Church at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, PO Box 27106, New York, NY 10087-7106 in memory of Peter G.
