COLONIE, NY – Peter J. Ahl, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Peter and Anna Ahl. He lived in Colonie for all of his life. Peter was a 1946 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy. Mr. Ahl was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during the Korean War. He worked for many years at A M International as a salesman and then as the Director of Purchasing for the Town of Colonie. Mr. Ahl was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church. He was a Colonie Republican Committeeman and a District Leader,a member of the West Albany Fire DEpt. #1 for over sixty years and the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 for many years. Peter was a diehard N.Y. Mets fan and enjoyed vacationing with his family in the Adirondacks and spending winters in Florida. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. Peter is the beloved husband of 55 years to Rosalie M. (DiBiase) Ahl. He is the devoted father of Peter (Pam) Ahl, Thomas (Janet) Ahl, Sharon (Joan Connolly) Ahl, Patricia (Robert Gibson) Ahl and Linda (David) Bradfield. He is the cherished grandfather of Ashley (John Mahoney) Ahl, Peter (Joy) Ahl and Trey Bradfield.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 9:15 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Our Lady of Mercy Church, Colonie at 10:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral Home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
