ALBANY – Peter N. Ladopoulos, 73, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2007 at his residence. Born in Pittsfield, MA on January 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Nicholas P. and Deamanto (Kayeas) Ladopoulos. Peter was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston before entering the U.S. Army in 1954 where he was stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX. Peter moved to the Capital Region in 1958 and was an active member of the Albany business community. He owned and operated the Bleecker (P.D. Ladd's) Café in Albany, a popular downtown restaurant, with his brothers, Daniel and Harry for over 47 years. He was a communicant of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Albany. Peter is survived by his wife of 32 years, Paula (Chakmakas) Ladopoulos; his sons, Peter C. (Toni) Ladopoulos of Guilderland, Niko P. (Nicole) Ladopoulos of Colonie and Adam P. (Jane) Ladopoulos of Albany; a stepson, Robert Hotaling of Albany; his sisters, Angela (John) McColgan of CA, Cynthia Holmok of Windham and his brother, Harry (Marilyn) Ladopoulos of Halfmoon. He is the beloved grandfather (Papouli) of Alexandra, Peter John, Christopher, Lauren, Nicholas and Zachary Ladopoulos. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his brother, Daniel.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). The Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
