COLONIE – Peter M. Riccardo, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in January 10, 1915 and grew up in West Albany. Peter was the son of the late Carmine and Marianne Riccardo. As a child, he helped his father split wood for home fireplaces and then hawk it along the city streets of Albany. Blessed with a youthful spirit and an incredible memory, he will be sorely missed. He was a life member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and a member of the Union Local #190. Peter was predeceased by his wife, Mary Berzin Riccardo; his brothers, Ricky, Joe and Nick; his sisters, Kate Meisner and Joanne Brown; his stepdaughter, Dorothy Deyss and his son-in-law, David Murphy. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Murphy and Donna (Tony) DiBello; and his sons, Peter J. Riccardo and Carmine P. Riccardo. He is the brother of Curly Riccardo, Anne Hainer and Helen Johnson. He is the grandfather of Celeste (Jeremy) Schulman, Natalie (James) Hyde, Lauren Murphy, Kerry Murphy, Peter J. Riccardo, Jr. and Carmine T. Riccardo. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Murphy Hyde and Sander and Cleo Schulman as well as several nieces and nephews. Peter's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Faust and the wonderful staff at 4 McCauley at St. Peter's Hospital.
