ALBANY - Philip J. "Phil" DiMaggio, passed away on December 11, 2021. We are bereft that our beloved and loving brother Philip J. "Phil" DiMaggio, 69, was unexpectedly carried away into eternal life due to a sudden illness at home. A lifelong Albany resident, he was born February 25, 1952 to his parents, Mary F. Gavry and Salvatore C. DiMaggio, both of whom predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his adored and devoted wife Laura (Webb) DiMaggio. Phil was a loving and staunchly loyal brother and friend who would do his utmost to help his family and friends whenever needed. His love, dedication, warmth, and sense of humor will be sorely missed by those he loved.
An avid fisherman, Phil was always happiest when he was replenishing his soul by communing with nature. He treated his pets as though they were his children and held a sense of wonder and healthy respect for all wildlife.
Phil was employed with his special brother-in-law Anthony N. Tote and special nephew Anthony D. Tote at Tony's Broadway Auto in Rotterdam.
He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany.
Phil is survived by his beloved and loving siblings: Michele F. Germain (William Jr.) of Clifton Park; special sister, Linda M. Tote (Anthony N.) of Rotterdam; Gina DiMaggio of Berkeley, CA; Diane D. Taylor (Leo Payant) of Lake Wales, FL; and Mark (Kristine) DiMaggio of Avon, CT. Also survived by his paternal aunt Pauline D. Kuzmak of Albany, his maternal aunt Joyce A. Persico of Buffalo, maternal uncle Richard (Michele) Whitehouse of Albany. A host of loving nieces and nephews and friends also survive. Phil is also survived by his late wife's family: step-son Robb Hensel (Yulanda) of Destin, FL; brothers-in-law Joseph of Albany; and Michael of Hopewell Junction; and sister-in-law Barbara Simpson, of Vermont.
Services will be will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 11 am, with a calling hour prior from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
