ALBANY - A longtime resident of Albany County Nursing Home, Philip John Fisher departed this life on March 30, 2006. He was 87 years old.
Born in Albany on March 28, 1919, Phil was the son of the late Philip Roy and Georgina Arosqigui Fisher of Freehold, NY.
Graduated from Elmira Aviation Ground School, Phil served in the U.S. 3rd Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He spent the war years at Barksdale Field as an instructor in celestial navigation.
A machine designer by trade, Phil worked for GE, National Lead and Columbia Mill Works. As
"Phil Marks" he raced the "Check Mark." Phil remained a stock car enthusiast and member of NESCO Old Timers throughout his life. Other hobbies included designing and building custom bicycles and sound systems.
Phil is survived by his wife of 25 years, Louise Imler Fisher; his first wife, Helen Fisher Davis and their children Mark, Karen (deceased), Gretchen and Helen; his second wife, May Fisher Selver and their daughter, Nancy. Phil has 3 stepson's and 14 grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2006, 12:30 PM, at Grace and Holy Anglican Episcopal Church located at 498 Clinton Avenue, Albany, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Hospice.
