COLONIE-Philip J. Minissale Sr., 89, joined Jesus, Mary and Joseph (his favorite saint) in heaven on August 4, 2016.
He was born on June 28, 1927 to the late Tindaro and Carmela (Gregoli) Minissale in Albany.
Philip was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country with honor and distinction in WWII. He took his basic training at the Sampson Naval Training Center in Geneva, NY. A proud Veteran he wore his prized Veteran hat everyday and everywhere. He worked for Sterling Winthrop in Rensselaer where he retired after 35 years of service. He was President of Local 61 (ICWU). As President he fought daily for safer working conditions and negotiated contracts with the company. He was greatly respected by the union members as well as his company.
Philip was a man of great faith, a devout Roman Catholic, who adored his wife Agnes, loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was time spent with his family, they worked together in the Minissale Restaurant and went camping together in the Adirondacks. He wrote many love letters to his wife Agnes throughout their 64 years of true marital bliss.
He will be deeply missed by all those who love him. His legacy of love, hard work, dedication to family and service to God and his country will live on in our hearts forever.
Philip is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Agnes (Marino) Minissale; children, Philip J. (Lorraine) Minissale, Jr., Cynthia M.(John, Sr.) Lizzi, Theodore P.(Donna) Minissale, Sr.; grandchildren John M. (Kelly) Lizzi Jr., Anthony M. (Maria) Lizzi, Maria C. (Michael) Norelli, Philip J. (Allison) Minissale, III, Theodore P. (Hannah) Minissale, Jr., Michelle M. (engaged to Nicholas Grant) Minissale; brothers, Frank (Ersilia) Minissale, Anthony Minissale and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Rita Minissale, wife of his brother Anthony.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Philip's life will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 9:30 am at Historic St. Mary's Church on Capitol Hill ,10 Lodge Street Albany, NY 12207
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 5-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie, NY. Interment will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
