Philip D. Newell

Latham--Philip D. Newell, age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on July 28, 2018. He was born in Niskayuna, NY, the son of the late Millard and Lillian Newell.

Philip retired after 33 years from CDT as an Organ and Transplant Coordinator at Albany Medical Center. He devoted his life to helping others. He was a former member of Boght Corner's Fire Department and the North Colonie Ambulance Department. Philip enjoyed hunting, fishing, being a Boy Scout Leader and working with his hands. Philip served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Constance Newell; his two children: Jennifer Hurd (Andrew) and Gregory Newell (Jennifer); his five grandchildren: Alexander, Joshua, Abigale, Alayna, and Ethan.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his calling hours on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd, Clifton Park, NY 12065. Interment will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
