SCHENECTADY- Philip E. Russell, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 4th, 2022 with family by his side.
Born in Tupper Lake NY, he was the son of the late Rev. Jesse Russell and Zelda Duane. After graduating from Brandon Highschool, he went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. Later he worked many years as a machinist and supervisor at General Electric and then at Watervliet Arsenal.
In retirement, he resided for 15 years in Boynton Beach Florida where often went fishing, bowling, and golfing. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and had a love for all sports. As an auto mechanic, he raced cars, worked in pit crews, and shared his love for racing with his children and grandchildren. Through the years he was an active member in various churches and volunteered as an usher, maintenance worker, and with food pantry ministries. Philip is survived by his children Philip "Ted" Russell (Josie), Sherry Williams (Gary), Mark Russell (Sarah), Wayne Russell (Robin), Nicole Hamilton (Michael), many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his sister Joyce Bozak. He is predeceased by his daughter Debra Sanborn, and sisters Ruth Jones and Gertrude Higgins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday February 16, 2022, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, with a service starting at 12:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, Colonie, New York. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens. Online condolences may be expressed at www.NewComerAlbany.com
