Philip F.D. Senna, 74, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany. Phil was born in Albany to the late Virginia (Tharpe) and Philip Michael Frank Senna. After high school he enlisted in the Naval Reserve and later served for the US Navy for 20 years as a flight deck attendant aboard the USS Essex, USS Kitty Hawk and USS IwoJima. He also served in the military police correction unit. Phil comes from a military family; every generation, on both sides, has served their country. Upon his discharge, Phil worked on the pipe lines in Navada as a security guard, also as a security guard for St. Clare's Hospital and lastly, for Bourgue Mechanical as an air conditioning and heating pipe installer. In addition to his parents, Phil was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Mark Senna and his sister, Betty L. Berg.
Philip is survived by his wife, Christina T. Senna; his sister Mary V. Bradt; his daughter, Lisa M. Senna; his son, Michael P. Senna; his stepsons, Frederick (Nancy) Herbst and Martin (Patricia) Herbst. Survivors also include his grandchildren; Brooke, Katy and Stephanie Senna, Adrienne and Daniel (Mindy) Herbst and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Monday at 10:30am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery after the service.
